FAQ
About Therapy
-
No experience required. I’m glad you’re taking the step to explore what therapy might be like. It can feel intimidating at first, but my goal is to create a space where you can feel comfortable and at ease. Early on, we’ll focus on getting to know each other—what excites you, what’s been challenging, and everything in between.
-
No problem. This work is collaborative, and I’m here to help you build awareness of when, where, and how your feelings show up—and how to put words to them over time.
-
Growth is challenging, and therapy will feel uncomfortable at times. I’m not here to agree with everything you say—I’m here to help you grow. That often means having honest, sometimes awkward conversations so they become easier over time. That said, I never want to push you so far outside your comfort zone that you feel unsafe. We’ll move at a pace that works for you.
-
Absolutely. We can look at how you show up in your relationships—whether that’s becoming a better partner, setting boundaries, or asking for what you need. When it comes to learning new communication patterns, that work is often most effective with all members of a relationship. If we reach that point, I’m happy to refer you to trusted couples therapists while we continue individual work.
-
In many ways, that’s up to you. I’ll offer questions and directions, but you ultimately decide what makes our time valuable.
I’d describe my style as warm and engaging. Therapy should be deep and meaningful—but it can also be lighthearted at times. There’s often room for humor in the absurdity of life. At the same time, I can be direct when it’s helpful—whether that’s teaching a skill, practicing mindfulness, or naming something that doesn’t quite add up.
-
Therapy isn’t a “magic formula” that will fix everything overnight. My hope is that our conversations help you identify where you want to grow, and that together we clarify what change would look like. Ultimately, you decide what to do with that insight—change only happens if you choose to act on it.
-
I don’t believe anyone is “broken.” People often put off therapy thinking, “Things aren’t that bad,” or “I don’t need it.” In my view, most people can benefit from therapy in some way. If you feel stuck, unsatisfied, or like there’s “something more,” therapy can help.
-
Absolutely. Therapy can be a place to build self-confidence and self-awareness, understand your strengths, clarify your values, and explore whether your career, relationships, and interests align with the life you want to lead.
-
For the most part, you just need to show up—I’ll guide you through the intake process. We won’t dive into the “deep end” right away; it’s important to build trust first. I’ll ask about your interests, values, and experiences, and we’ll begin identifying what you’d like to get out of therapy.
That said, I will send you paperwork ahead of time that takes about 30–45 minutes to complete. This must be finished before our first session.
About Billing/Insurance

I am not currently credentialed with any insurance companies.
-
By working on a private-pay basis, we get to decide how our time is used. Insurance companies often require specific diagnoses, limit the number of sessions, or influence the direction of treatment—even when that may not be in your best interest. Without those constraints, we can collaborate more freely on what’s actually helpful to you, including how often we meet, how long we work together, and what goals we focus on.
-
When you complete your intake paperwork, you’ll securely add a credit card to your client portal. That card will be charged at the end of each session.
-
You’ll need to check with your insurance provider about your specific out-of-network benefits. I’m happy to provide documentation, but I don’t want to risk giving inaccurate information about your coverage.
-
Yes. If you plan to seek reimbursement, I can provide a superbill at the end of each month.

Absolutely. Therapy can be a place to build self-confidence and self-awareness, understand your strengths, clarify your values, and explore whether your career, relationships, and interests align with the life you want to lead.
-
Yes. Accessible therapy is important to me, and I offer a limited number of sliding-scale spots. If you’re interested, feel free to ask. If I don’t have availability, I’m happy to refer you to other providers who do.
